Static Display and Parades
The Lighthorse have have been involved in a number of static displays and parades where the situation does not allow of a Skill-at-Arms display. The static display is comprised of of information and equipment used by the Lighthorse and troop members show the uniform as well as explaining the history and use of the equipment on display.
The Troop have performed escort duty and been involved various parades, including Anglesea 200 where we were honour guard for the Governor General, escort duty for the Tasmanian governor at anniversaries and agricultural shows and especially the Anzac day parade in Hobart where we have formed part of the parade for the past decade. On the first Sunday of June at 12 noon each year, we participate in the Boer War commemoration at the memorial on the Hobart Domain. Each Remembrance Day sees us at the Hobart Cenotaph for the ceremony at 11am on November 11.
Because of our knowledge of horses, horse riding, firearms and military history, members of the troop have also been involved as extras in various movies and documentaries.
Some of the troop's northern members have re-created a horse-drawn field ambulance. We are also currently in the process of restoring a Universal Carrier and Blitz truck, (used by the Lighthorse when they were mechanized in WW2) and hope to have these on display in the future.
